Baby Girl Update

Sydney is doing much better.  She hasn't run a temperature since Sunday and is orney as ever.  The urine & blood tests came back negative, so more than likely she had something viral.  We were given a choice if we wanted to stop the antibiotics and went ahead & stopped.  These type of antibiotics are notorious for causing a yeasty diaper rash & thrush...yuck!  I also believe she developed a rash (on her neck) d/t the antibiotics.

Now we are dealing with weight issues (again.)  Sydney hasn't gained any weight for the past couple of weeks.  Its understandable since she had an upset stomach for almost 2 weeks then the illness.  However, her weight gain has slowed down a ton in the past 2 months (since she's been crawling.)  She went from being in the 95% in weight when she was born, holding at 25% since December, and recently is at 10%.  Yikes!  I feel like all I do at times is feed her.  Dr. Pete (her pediatrician) is now having me give her 8 oz. of formula/day in addition to breastfeeding & solids.  We'll see how it goes.  At 6 1/2 months she decided she wanted nothing to do with formula or bottle.  I had to "trick" her into taking some of it tonight by feeding it to her with a spoon!  Blah.  As long as she gains weight for next week, I won't be too concerned.  She's a petite gal and has always gained weight on the low side of acceptable, but does need to gain a little weight each week.  (Babies over 6 months old are supposed to gain 1-3 ounces per week.)

On a fun note, Sydney asked to take a second bath today, after she had a bath and went wadding in the artificial stream by our home.  It was so cute.  She crawled over to the tub, pulled herself up and started banging her hands against it.

We ended the night by listening to 2 1/2 star jazz at the coffee shop.  She was quite the dancin' machine and loved the attention from the 2 & 3 year olds that were there.

I'm lovin' the mom survey you've got going. It's amazing that when I was single you could eat off my kitchen floor any day of the week. Totally the opposite now, especially since we have rough cut tile - I STRONGLY DISLIKE cleaning it as it's a pain!

Good to hear Syd is better - I hear ya on stopping the antibiotics - no need to give those when the side-effects are usually worse than any benefits w/ a virus.
