This has been on my mind because I know a lot of people are hurting now. I have more friends that have lost their jobs (or spouses have lost jobs) recently than are working. Many family members are battling serious illnesses; a cousin of mine recently had a baby that had to be re-hospitalized due to being jaundiced. My cousin had to have a blood transfusion due to the birth and has had back pain due to the epidural not getting in the right spot. An Uncle of mine is battling cancer and my Aunt (his wife) will be having a hysterectomy this month. Another Aunt is in the hospital due to a perforated bowel and had emergency surgery and another Uncle just had a hernia repaired and will be off work for 6-8 weeks.
All we can do during these rough times is march forward. By marching onward, sometimes we are given glimmers of hope, but even more important, pictures of what is really important to us. If we have someone to love, something to eat, and a roof over our heads we are already ahead of the game. If we have someone to share our laughter and tears then we are truly blessed.
