Birthday brownies

We are all sick at the Thompson household and had to cancel Sydney's little birthday party for tomorrow.  I was a little bummed because I didn't have what I needed to make Sydney a cake and was too exhausted to go to the store.  However, I found a yummy brownie recipe to work as her birthday cake.  It was pretty tasty, served with chocolate & carmel syrup as well as a maraschino cherry (chopped up, of course.)  She had fun eating the cake, especially since we usually only give her healthy/low sugar things.

My Mom stopped by and dropped off some birthday presents for Sydney.  Sydney has had fun all day getting on & off of her new rocking/bouncing horse.  Thanks Grandma C!

  

While its too bad we had to postpone her party, I am so fortunate to be able to spend her first birthday with her all day long!!  This time last year, I was getting to see my baby girl for the first time, 8+ hours after birth.

Sometimes birthdays don't turn out as you plan, but turn out nice anyhow.
